The Division: Rural and Social Development of the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) has ringfenced part of their budget to provide a variety of products and programmes that assist in promoting dignity. One of the initiatives was the handover of hearing aids that took place in Worcester at the CWDM offices on Thursday 12 June 2025.
The Executive Deputy Mayor, Ald Margaret Sampson, the Executive Director for Community and Planning Services, Pietie Williams, and Deputy Director for Rural and Social Development, Goodman Xawuka, officially handed over 53 hearing aids to the Department of Health and Wellness. The department will determine the recipients of these hearing aids, which will be administered and fitted by an audiologist.
The CWDM is committed to uplifting communities and fostering resilience. The Dignity Programme aims to ensure that the rights and dignity of residents are respected, and that their basic needs are met.
