Young performers from across the district showcased their creativity and talent at the Cape Winelands High School Drama Festival, held at Montana High School in Worcester over the weekend of 8 August 2026.
The festival, presented through a partnership between the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM), Breede Valley Municipality, Montana High School and the Ukukhanya Kwelanga Art Society, provided a valuable platform for learners to express themselves through theatre and storytelling.
A variety of impressive productions highlighted the depth of emerging talent in the region. Vusisizwe Secondary School claimed the Best Production award, while Montana High School received the Runner-up Production title. Wellington High School earned recognition as Best Ensemble for its outstanding teamwork on stage.
Among the individual award winners, Simamkele Siwakamisa was honoured as both Best Actor and Best Director. Okuhle Sibidla received the Best Actress award, while Kirsten Crotz was named Best Supporting Actress. Kayamandi High School took home the award for Best Script.
