Cape Winelands Launches Tourism Month 2026

Paarl, 4 September 2026 – The Cape Winelands District Municipality officially launched Tourism Month 2026 at Boland Park Cricket Stadium in Paarl, marking the start of a month-long celebration of the region’s diverse tourism offerings and economic opportunities.
Tourism Month is celebrated throughout South Africa from 1 to 30 September under the national theme,“Growing South Africa’s Tourism Sector in the Digital Era.” The campaign highlights the importance of innovation and technology in strengthening the tourism industry while creating opportunities for economic growth and job creation.
Tourism plays a vital role in the Cape Winelands economy, attracting visitors from across South Africa and around the world. The region offers an exceptional combination of renowned wine routes, heritage attractions, outdoor adventures, farm experiences, festivals, world-class cuisine, arts and cultural experiences.
The launch also aligns with preparations for World Tourism Day, celebrated globally on 27 September. The international 2026 theme,“Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” recognises the growing role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in enhancing visitor experiences, improving operational efficiency and supporting sustainable tourism development.
Throughout Tourism Month, residents are encouraged to discover local attractions, support local businesses and experience the unique destinations found across the Cape Winelands. By exploring the region, visitors contribute directly to sustainable and inclusive economic development while helping to strengthen local communities.
