Gideon Carinus has been a Mayoral Committee member since 2011, serving the community of the Cape Winelands District with regards to infrastructure services. He was born and bred in Stellenbosch. After studying B Agriculture at Stellenbosch University, he started farming on the family farm, Highmead, situated in Devon Valley, after his father passed away.
