Margaret Sampson has a history in social activism with particular focus on women’s empowerment initiatives and social protection programmes. She has also worked as an administrator in delivering social relief grants. She became involve in the administration of affordable housing in a low-income housing project in Avian Park. She became involve in the political arena as a PR Councillor, and thereafter was elected as Ward Councillor for three consecutive terms. She used to be speaker in the BVM as well as portfolio holder for Public Employment Programmes, later Engineering Services where she gained valuable insight in municipal budget prioritization and municipal basic service delivery practises. She has gained valuable experience in public accountability due to the experiences in a myriad of political oversight roles in the Local and District Municipality.
