The coin's reverse depicts a coloured image of a Leopard Seal (Hydrurga leptonyx) and its pup, which appear within the outline of Antarctica. As well as the inscription LEOPARD SEAL: 2005, the reverse includes the words Australian Antarctic Territory and the Mints traditional P mintmark.
