The Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) has empowered community members involved in local safety structures, such as neighbourhood watches, by affording them the opportunity to do a Peace Officer course. This initiative is part of the District Safety Plan aimed at building capacity within the district.
Eighteen participants from the Drakenstein, Stellenbosch and Langeberg municipal areas completed the course. “Completing the Peace Officer course was a step towards enhancing my professional skills in community service. This course equipped me with the knowledge and tools to proactively contribute to the safety and harmony of my community,” reflected Michael Scheepers from Robertson after completing the course.
By investing in the training of community members, the CWDM commits itself to fostering a safer and more secure environment for all residents. This initiative empowers individuals to play an active role in maintaining community safety, highlighting the CWDM’s dedication to enhancing community wellbeing.
